But for wide receiver Roy Williams the fairytale engagement has ended in a court battle after Brooke Daniels spurned his advances and refused to hand back an $76,000 ring, according to court documents.
Williams sent the ring along with $5000, a baseball and a pre recorded marriage proposal after Miss Daniels asked for the money to pay off 'school and dental bills'.
Demand: Roy Williams wants his $76,000 engagement ring back from former Miss Texas Brooke Daniels
In an affidavit, Williams said that after repeated requests Miss Daniels had claimed the ring was lost.
He then reported the loss to his insurance company, who investigated what had happened to the ring.
The inquiry revealed that the ring was not lost - but was instead with Miss Daniels’ father Michael.
Speaking to OA Online, Mr Daniels said: 'He (Williams) said ([to Brooke Daniels), ‘I’m not like a lot of people, I don’t want the ring back'.
Mr Daniels added that when confronted, Williams said to his daughter: 'You’ll eventually come back to me.'

Mr Daniels also said the two had never told Williams the ring was lost and that he had it all along.
According to court documents, the matter is now whether the ring was a gift or should be returned to Mr Williams.
According to his insurer's response, the matter is 'not covered' under the football star's existing policy.
